Why use GrowthLoop and Google Ad Manager (GAM)?

Google Ad Manager (GAM) and Google Ad Manager 360 (GAM360) are ad management platforms that allow you to set up and manage your bids and ad campaigns on Google and any connected channels. The platforms include tools that allow you to adjust how your ads are displayed to target audiences wherever they are displayed by Google ads, and generate reports based on your ad campaigns. 

Note: GAM differs from Google Ads, which is the platform to bid on placing ads in Google Search results. 

Connecting GrowthLoop to your GAM or GAM360 account allows you to export your audiences and use them in Google Ads campaigns and across your publisher network.

After connecting your GrowthLoop account to your GAM or GAM360 instance, GrowthLoop will export your audiences to a Google Cloud Storage (GCS) bucket you specify during setup

Common use cases for a GrowthLoop and Google Ad Manager (GAM) integration include:

Best customer lookalikes

Cross-sell a new product to high spenders, driving higher customer lifetime value (CLV) and loyalty.

Reactivate churned customers

Export lists of churned customers you are trying to win back and target them with ads based on what they purchased in the past.

Suppress recent visitors

Make a list of customers who have used a coupon and have clicked on an email in the last seven days, and use it as a suppression list for GAM campaigns.

Reach customers with unused rewards

Create a list of customers who haven't clicked an email in six weeks and have unused rewards points. Then, target them with paid media ads to encourage them to shop with their rewards.

How to set up GrowthLoop and Google Ad Manager (GAM)

GrowthLoop can export audiences through a GCS bucket to GAM or GAM360. This process can take up to 24 hours, so plan accordingly.

Step 1

To get started, you'll need: an audience in GrowthLoop, a GAM or GAM360 account, a Google Cloud Storage bucket to store synced data, a GCS Service Account (SA) JSON, and a Google Group containing all Google Accounts needing access to upload and view files, including the GrowthLoop Service Account.

Step 2

Locate your GAM network code, in Ad Manager under Admin, then Global settings, and then Network code.

Step 3

Go to Destinations in the GrowthLoop platform.

Step 4

Search for and select Google Ads Manager.

Step 5

Configure the Destination based on your needs. Select sync frequency, and input the Network Code, the GCS Bucket, and paste the entire contents of your GCS SA JSON file.

Step 6

Click Create to connect the accounts.

Step 7

After connecting the accounts, Export the audience to GAM. GrowthLoop will prompt you to specify a Match Field and the Audience Segment ID.

Step 8

After exporting, wait 24 hours. GrowthLoop will place CSV files for each audience member in a GCS folder at: console.developers.google.com/storage/browser/gdfpcookieupload[Ad Manager network code].
